Calea Griviței was once named Drumul Târgoviștei, its’ origin caming about at the same time with the emergence of the 2 capital cities of Wallachia. At that time, it provided the access between Bucharest and Târgoviște. The current name came after the War of Independence from 1877-1878, as an homage to the Grivița redoubt.
